The entire staff at Unplayable Lies has an outing scheduled for this morning, about which I'll have more later. In the interim, a couple of easy items to through up for your amusement.
Did anyone watch any of the Frys.com from Silverado? I caught the last twenty minutes of the broadcast, and thought the course looked great in the afternoon sun. My only reaction is that there was quite a bit of debris on the course, so much that I wondered if the leaf rule was in place.
We've discussed the Tour's history at Silverado, with a long list of worthy champions and all. But Shackelford the Indispensable takes us on a wistful trip to yesteryear with this touching anecdote that will bring a tear to your eye:
Yup, These Guys Are Good!
The excerpt comes from Robert Sommers' book, Golf Anecdotes: From the Links of Scotland to Tiger Woods. And Shack has this to add:
I'm not sure about the "around the range" part as the telling I've heard was far more cinematic, with Hill marching right down the range as legends of the game stopped hitting balls and watched the duel unfold.
Either way, kind of makes you wish they had cell phone video and YouTube back then!
