We are awaiting the arrival of dear friends Elsie and John Coupland who, in a moment of weakness and/or lunacy, signed up for this journey to the ends of the Earth with us. In so doing they made our lives so much easier, allowing us to fly out here and avoid the arduous drive and multiple ferries. Benbecula is a spit of an island, connected by a causeway to South Uist.
Assuming their travels have gone according to schedule, we should be pegging it on Askernish Old by mid-afternoon. Weather for the moment is, in the wording of our pilot, reasonable, though the BBC seems to think northwestern Scotland could be wet this afternoon. In Glasgow there's a chance of thunderstorms, a rarity in these parts.
I'll post at my earliest opportunity, but the first few days will be hectic.
